Megan's Nicturna Session - Scorpio Full Moon in Banff
Nicturna Sessions were inspired by my Mother Odette and I started them to make a difference in women’s lives. I wanted to start bringing women out at night in nature to reset and really embrace their beauty. These sessions have turned into so much more than pretty photoshoots. It has been incredible being around such amazing women for a powerful lunar night.
Magic happens in the dark.
Here is Megan’s Nicturna Session.
She was devoted to the moon.
In it’s darkness she found comfort.
In the light she found hope.

Megan chose to do this shoot to commemorate new beginnings and a new chapter in her life. Something very common with our Nicturna family of ladies.

What do you think is most beautiful about yourself Megan?
I have been spending a lot of time to heal my heart and further cultivate my relationship with myself.
I try to have a beautiful heart that is open to whatever the universe is sending my way. I am working to understand that my ability to be vulnerable is a brave and beautiful thing, and that my intuition will never guide me the wrong way.

“Have you ever experienced magic? The beauty of a waterfall; how the water moves effortlessly and with purpose. The vastness of the night sky; enveloping you in its darkness, connecting you with the earth beneath your feet. Being with Sofia in her element is just like that…
In our lifetime, I believe we will undergo several transformations…revelations…mid (or quarter) life crisis…awakenings. However you choose to refer to them, they’re chapters in our lives that change the very definition of who we are. We “come into our own”. The beliefs we have are based from experience and we begin to live more intentionally.
Perhaps that’s why I’m so in love with the moon, because no matter what phase she’s in, she’s always whole.
For me, working with Sofia - this Nicturna shoot, was a gift to myself. A culmination of the “work” I’ve done this year. A celebration of learning to love myself. Mind-Body-Soul. There was a moment while Sof & friends were setting up, I’d gone to the car to change and looked back up at the falls. What I saw was pure magic; the falls danced to life with the colours of the rainbow. I swear I could hear Sof laughing.
Under that big, beautiful sky, I was witness to a team working together, each of us fueled by our own passions; coming together to create…magic”.

For the longest time it was hard to look at myself in the mirror and see the person everyone else saw. I couldn't see past the body dysmorphia that had grown from my childhood. It wasn't until a stroll in the woods watching the sunset, getting lost, and seeing the moon slowly show her face that I was given clarity. Clarity not only about myself but the world around me. The confidence grew. Still, I saw myself sometimes in not nice ways.
After talking with Sofia, throwing together a spontaneous shoot, freezing my buns off and feeling more alive than I ever had before... well, that's when it the mirror matched the confidence. I got to see myself through her lens. A creative magic that she saw in me displayed in the photos. Sofia is one of a kind, her eye is unlike any other, her determination to get the shot is astounding.
Go, bask in the light of the moon as the stars twinkle on you. Or find the golden hour and feel the last bit of warmth on your skin. Go, feel alive.
